Fun in the amusement park :-)

In general, people are fairly thrill seekers. Why else would horror movies and haunted houses be so popular? When we are scared or excited, our bodies create adrenalin. Adrenalin, like endorphins, makes us happy. It’s a legal drug.
And let’s face it. Nothing can be as exciting as a free fall from the top of a roller coaster hill.

Yes, I still remember the adrenalin moving in my body when I decided together with Salina, Yusra, Wissam and Maan to follow Chantale’s plan to go to a thriller park (not an amusement park).

We went out from the hotel on a sunny day, and because Stockholm is built on a series of islands there is water everywhere and many different ferry services, so we took one of them, which stopped us front of Gröna Lund.

Gröna Lund is THE place to be! There we found all traditional rides, where we had been shaken around in all ways imaginable, from up side down, left to right and of course flying high up into the air and fall even quicker down again.

“I didn’t dare to get any closer yet then to look at it from the waterfront” Wissam said, hahaha, but at the end of the day it was fun.

Even though some of the scariest and most popular rides only last for a few minutes they last a lifetime in the memories of adults and children alike. They cerate moments of excitement and daring for us all to remember and are made only sweeter by the anticipation of having to wait in line to get on.

Another fun thing we felt there is that it was one of the last places where an adult can be a child again. Screaming at the top of our lungs is not only permitted but was encouraged too; some of us were also photographed with large furry animals.

At the end of the day, the best thing about that day was that we found a good place to spend quality time as friends together.
In today’s world, we are a very busy society and most of the time we have little time for interacting with our loved ones the way that we would like to.

Killer Whales are more social than humans!!

orca

In honor of the fresh new summer movie season my friend thought it might be a good idea to go all the way back to the beginning, the one that started it all, the granddaddy of summer movies, JAWS. And then skip forward two years to ORCA.

Since I was a little girl I have been fascinated with these mammals, Killer Whales are in some ways even more social than humans. They spend their entire lives together in family groups.
The name “Orca” was originally given to Killer Whales by the Ancient Romans and it has grown in popularity over the years.

The movie is not a horror one as my friend told me, it is drama, a love story, and an odyssey film. Actually I cried in the beginning of the movie.
It starts with an amazing scene showing two orcas mating, setting the stage for what’s about to happen later.

They killed his wife…they killed his child…they took everything away from him and replaced it with a thirst for justice…a thirst for revenge!!

As the film opens, we see many good-looking underwater shots of killer whales swimming around, and we see two people, presumably scientists, Rachel (Charlotte Rampling) and Ken (Robert Carradine), doing some sort of scientific research involving the whales. We also meet Captain Nolan (Richard Harris), and his crew, as they’re trying to capture a great white shark in order to sell it to an aquarium for great profit. In an effort to show just how much tougher and impressive Killer Whales are than Great White Sharks, we witness, along with Captain Nolan, a spectacular attack on a Great White by a Killer Whale.

This encourages Nolan to change his goal, giving up on sharks and focus on capturing a Killer Whale, a decision he will end up regretting. His attempt turns out badly, as the whale he captures, not only a female, but also a pregnant female, dies in a very bloody fashion. Now, we soon learn that the whales, being highly intelligent mammals, not only mate for life, but that they also have a capacity for revenge that meets, maybe even exceeds, that of humans.

As Nolan begins to realize the consequences of his actions, regret and remorse creep into his consciousness, and he tries to come to terms with what he’s done. Thus begins a slow and deliberate attempt by the whale to draw Nolan out to sea, so that it may give the once haughty captain his comeuppance.

I enjoyed this movie and the music, much more than I thought. And I wanted to share what I feel with you.

Europe Street

(A unique blend of European flavors offered to you by EU Embassies in Egypt)

This was the title of today’s exhibition.
The European Street is financially supported by the Delegation of the European Commission in Egypt.
The Europe Street celebration included stands by almost all the EU Member States and Egypt, with national food, drinks and documentation on offer.
We are used to hear that big fish eat up small fish, but in the European Union, size doesn’t matter, I found that small countries like Malta, Cyprus, and Latvia were side by side to big countries like Sweden, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom.
There was a variety of foods to suit everyone’s needs; no one would ever be left out.
Are you ready for a travel in Europe? Take a look to that Video.
