MY FIRST MIDSUMMER FUN NIGHT

My first Midsummer in Sweden was just Purrrrrfect with my friends 🙂

Though the day was raining in the morning but it ended up as a sunny one in the afternoon.

Swedes celebrate the longest day of the year with family members and friends in the countryside. They keep singing, drinking alcohol and eating traditional swedish food prepared by almost everyone.

Pickled herring is a particular favourite during this season. Also strawberries and the lingonberries are quite popular in the summer and they are usually consumed in the form of cake or cream.

In agrarian times, Midsummer celebrations in Sweden were held to welcome the summertime and the season of fertility.

Flower wreaths are a common motif in Midsummer gatherings. You can find revelers of all genders wearing these garlands. Mine was not real but it was a pretty one which I will keep on my mirror as a positive sign.

Here you can see my mini towering maypole – it is usually a huge one, so people can dance around it – which is an iconic symbol of Midsummer celebrations.

Pink Fluffy Cherry Blossom

Happiness is seeing Cherry blossoms in full bloom!

Just like everyone else in Stockholm I just had to take photos under the beautiful cherry trees in Kungsträdgården!

Luckily I was early because now the flowers fell and trees have green leaves instead. I know they usually last on the trees for 2/3 weeks but this year they lasted for a week or 10 days.

The central Stockholm park KungsträdgÃ¥rden – King’s Garden – offers a stunning explosion of the fluffy pink petals along the way and during that time (April – May) the park is filled with visitors, Swedes and tourists alike to take photos under the trees.

Cherry blossom also called Sakura in Japanese and believe me, you need not to go to Japan to experience and appreciate the beauty of these mesmerising flowers. Hahahaha even if Sweden has a short season for these beautiful blooms, still I was lucky enough to take lovely photos ….

Hahaha social media platforms and blogs are usually showered during Swedish spring with the cherry blossom photos, that’s why I wanted to wait a bit.

Today I had a dreamy lunch and coffee with my boyfriend. Did you have a good day? Mine was fine!

Stockholm has a number of great number of swimming pools indoors and outdoors  – some with water parks, as well as a few that are a bit further afield but that are well worth the journey.

Today I was planning to go enjoy a swimming pool inside one of those luxuries hotels, but I ended up enjoying the sun at Eriksdalsbadet which is Sweden’s National Swimming Hall where they have four outdoor pools that allows you to swim outside in summer.

Swedish summer is not like the Egyptian summer but it was time to chill under the sun, eat loads of fresh cherries and drink a lot of sparkling water.

OHH Happy National Day Sweden ★
